Terrazzo restoration is performed in much the same manner as polishing concrete. However, we use different types of diamond discs for these surfaces. There are two types of terrazzo:
- Cementious
(made like concrete)
- Epoxy
Cementious terrazzo has been around the longest. Epoxy terrazzo has been around for the last 20 years or so.
In the case of cementious terrazzo, we restore and polish it just like concrete. We make it look like new by removing all the waxes and topical coatings that have been destroying the floor for years. Our process rejuvenates the terrazzo floor and eliminates expensive maintenance programs, which basically pays for having the floor restored.
Epoxy terrazzo restoration cannot be densified like concrete and cementious terrazzo, so it will still need to be maintained. However, with the restoration process, we grind and flatten the surface, remove all the old yellowing waxes, and bring new life back to these surfaces.
